To kids, the only thing better than making a craft is making a craft that YOU CAN EAT! As part of our “Cook-a-Book” 6 week mini-series (part of our summer programming), the kids were able to make edible snacks that coincided with the theme of the program. The theme for this program was: Soccer (Football UK)!
Here’s what you need:
- Individual applesauce (Head)
- Juice box (Body)
- 2 Fruit Roll-ups (Arms)
- 2 mini boxes of raisins (Feet)
- Chocolate soccer balls (any round chocolate will do)
- Scotch tape
This is mostly an assembling craft which helps to practice those pre-engineering skills! I like to assemble one ahead of time for reference. There’s no rules with this one. Half of the fun is having different looking soccer players. Basically, everything gets taped together to resemble a soccer player. Once the body is assembled, the kids can draw silly faces on the apple sauce, which acts as the head. After a quick mock soccer game and photo shoot, it is time to make like a zombie and eat those soccer players!
This craft goes great with:

- Soccer Star by Mina Javaherbin
