This is a great St. Patrick’s Day craft that is fun and easy! If you are like us, your branch has a ton of these multipurpose black plastic hats. If you don’t have them, they are cheap and lifesavers when you are in a pinch and need a craft. For this craft, we are turning everyone into leprechauns!
Here’s what you need to make each:
- Black plastic hat
- Black, yellow, green, and orange construction paper
- Scotch tape or staples
- Stick or Elmer’s glue
This craft requires a good bit of scissor prep work, but it is well worth it in the end! First you need to cut out green top hat shapes, black strips, yellow buckles, and orange beards (Green shamrocks are optional). See the above pictures for references. Once everything is cut out, the kids can assemble the front of the hats by gluing/taping the construction paper pieces together, Again, see the pictures for reference. Once the paper hat is assembled, it can be taped or stapled to the rim of the black plastic hat. Optionally, you can tape/staple the shamrock to the back of the black plastic hat.
The kids look hysterical when they are all in their leprechaun hats!
